For Cisco Service Provider Video Solutions

Cisco acquired when it purchased Scientific Atlanta
CLEARWATER, Fla. (Feb. 25, 2010) – Tech Data Corporation today announced it is the first distributor in the Americas for the entire Cisco Service Provider Video Technology Group (SPVTG) solutions portfolio. The SPVTG solutions portfolio encompasses a broad array of Cisco networking solutions and all the products the vendor acquired when it purchased Scientific Atlanta in 2006. In the United States, Cisco channel partners participating in Cisco’s Authorized Service Provider Video Program—including Internet Service Providers (ISPs), certain cable operators and IT resellers capitalizing on the rising demand for video communications—will now purchase these products through Tech Data’s Cisco Solutions Group.
“Accommodating the explosive growth of video—be it HDTV, HD videoconferencing or the distribution of video content through online services like YouTube and Netflix—will be the driving force behind network design for years to come,” said Tech Data Vice President, Cisco Solutions Group Chuck Bartlett. “More and more network capacity will be dedicated to providing access to video via residential cable and Internet services, corporate networks and everywhere else through smartphones and other mobile devices. That trend is only going to continue, and it will change how resellers and ISPs alike design, deploy and manage everything from onsite networking installations to the cross-country infrastructure they connect to.”
Underscoring the growth and popularity of online video, marketing intelligence firm comScore Inc. recently reported that nearly 178 million U.S. Internet users—representing 86.5 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience—viewed a record total of 33.2 billion videos last December.

Tech Data will distribute the complete line of SPVTG solutions, including IP-based networking solutions and analog products for customers responsible for the maintenance of existing video distribution networks. SPVTG products available through Tech Data include:
- Cisco Access/Edge: RF switches, broadband routers, optical hubs, nodes, reverse transmitters, amplifiers, filters, equalizers and line extenders
- Cisco Headend, Content Contribution and Distribution: Addressable network management systems, digital encoders, digital receivers/decoders, headends, analog modulators and demodulators
- Cisco At Home: Analog set-tops units, digital set-top units, cable accessories, cable modems, headend digital, headend software and the PowerVu Network Center Management Platform
- Cisco Network Monitoring and Management: Cisco Broadband Access Center, Cisco Broadband Configurator, Cisco Network Registrar, transponders, backup and disaster recovery
- Cisco Digital Media Suite: digital media encoders, managers and players
Members of the Cisco Solutions Group have been trained to support resellers, cable operators, ISPs and other networking specialists deploying Cisco SPVTG solutions.
