Market Assignments

A Market Assignment is an identifier for a group of countries in a common geographical area. Market Assignments are used to control the purchase of items, ensuring adherence to vendor contract sales agreements and restrictions.

Markets are assigned to customers to indicate which country groups the customer does business in and which orders are authorized to be shipped. Markets are also assigned to items and their product lines, indicating to which country groups the product can be shipped. Multiple markets may be assigned to Export and Latin America customers.

Market Assignments - Product Search Results

During product searches, the products that display will be those within the customer's default Market Assignment. Those customers who have multiple Market Assignments will be able to choose a different Market Assignment, which will change the products in their search results.

Market Assignments - Destination Restrictions

A Destination Restriction identifies a specific country within a market where a vendor contract restricts the sale of product.

If a product returned during a search has a destination restriction, an icon will display to the right of the product number. Clicking on the icon will access a message box identifying the country to which the product is restricted from being shipped. If the product is added to the order and the order is submitted, a message box will appear notifying the customer that the product caused the order to go on hold and that it will be reviewed.

Market Assignments - Order Creation

  • From the E-Commerce screen, select a market from the Your Market field by clicking on the drop-down arrow and selecting the appropriate market.
  • Once the market is selected, a message box will appear notifying you that the regional market has changed and the price, promotions and availability of SKU's may also change. Note: The message box will appear each time the market is changed unless the "Don't show me this popup box again" selection box is checked.
  • Click OK and the message box will disappear.
  • From the E-Commerce screen, access the Product Search section to search for products for your order or the Order Line section to add products directly into the shopping cart.
    • If a Destination Restriction exists on any of the products that are returned in the search, a yellow icon will appear to the right of the product number designating the product as having a destination restriction.
    • Click on the destination restriction icon to access a message box that identifies the country with a restriction.
    • Click Close this window once you have located the restricted country.
    • If you want to add the product to your order, click the shopping cart icon.
  • Continue searching and adding products until you complete your order.
  • Submit the order.
    • If you have any products with destination restrictions on your order, a message box will appear notifying you that the restricted product caused the order to go on hold and that the order will be reviewed.
