How is pricing or the application of a government discount managed?
This typically varies by vendor - some provide up-front discounts that Tech Data applies directly to your order, while other vendors require you to submit claims directly to them after the fact. For instance, the HP NMSO program provides up-front pricing discounts applied to orders for desktops, notebooks and servers, while accessory discounts are available through a back-end rebate from HP.

What reports are generally required by vendors and how does Tech Data help?
Vendors will often require resellers to provide customer sell-through reporting. Tech Data, of course, captures much of the detail required for this reporting. On every Web order, for instance, our site records and stores the P.O. number, ship to information, serial numbers, and more. This data is available for reference 24 hours a day.
For the HP NMSO program, HP requires that resellers submit Reseller Sales Out Reports (RSO) every week. Since resellers must provide the government requisition number to Tech Data to process each order, we collect this data and provide a report back to each reseller indicating what they have purchased from us. This report is extremely useful in helping resellers prepare their RSO reports for delivery to HP.

With the anticipated spike in business for a number of resellers, does Tech Data provide additional credit?
Tech Data traditionally reviews the credit requirements of resellers who participate in government business during the first quarter of the calendar year. In many cases, Tech Data is able to extend additional credit during this period. We also offer a wide range of credit options and programs, including lockbox service and specialized financing arrangements. Jose Brito heads up the credit services department at Tech Data and will be working closely with resellers to discuss options and programs.

What about inventory - is Tech Data ready for the business?
Absolutely. Tech Data uses historical data and forecasting from our resellers to ensure we have the stock you need. We work closely with all vendors to manage and capitalize on all opportunities. While we are the exclusive distributor for HP Intel NMSO products, we also want to be your first stop for all other vendors and products, and will be stocking aggressively across the board.
